COFFEE SHOP NEW OWNERS RECEIVE DISABLED ACCESS AWARD

The new owners of Bilbys Coffee Shop, Chris, Lisa, Jane and Clive have received an award for Access and Service to the Disabled. The certificate was presented to Chris Emmerson by David James from Crewkerne Action for the Disabled. Chris accepted the award on behalf of the previous owners Tris and Jane, who retired earlier this month after 19 years of dedicated service to the community. Chris has vowed to carry on their good work and future plans for improvement include installing hand rails in the toilet, to make it more accessible for customers who have a disability.

Crewkerne Action For The Disabled (CAD) visits businesses in the town, to check out the accessibility for wheelchair users. The group of like minded people, provide a service to the disabled of any age and work alongside the local authorities and other organisations. CAD helps people from Crewkerne and the surrounding areas, who may benefit from their service, by acting as a medium through which the requirements of those with disabilities can be communicated. Monthly meetings are held at the Henhayes Centre on the third Wednesday, with the first meeting of 2020 taking place tonight at 7 pm. New members are always welcome.
