Maiden Beech Academy in Crewkerne is closed today for deep cleaning, after being made aware that a child attending the school, has a potential case of the Coronavirus, Covid-19. In a letter sent home to parents yesterday, Maiden Beech Academy stated: “Whilst the child nor his family have been tested, based on symptoms, the NHS believe that there is an 80% chance that they have the virus; the family have been told to self-isolate for 14 days.”

The school has spoken to Public Health England and following government guidance to educational settings, have been advised to deep clean to prevent further contamination. After liaising with Peter Elliott, CEO and colleagues at BTCT, they decided that the best way to manage the deep clean was to close the school to all pupils and staff today but are planning to reopen tomorrow, Thursday March 19th, unless advised otherwise.
