FARMERS MARKET GOING AHEAD WITH EXTRA SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Crewkerne Farmers Market is still going ahead on Saturday March 21st, with extra safety precautions in place. Hand sanitisers will be available to use, all produce will be covered and the option of sampling tasters has been removed. A spokesperson for Somerset Farmers Markets said: “As it’s outside, we feel the risk to the public is lower than visiting a supermarket. Please follow the Government’s guidelines and only visit us if you are well. The food and drink producers who trade at our markets already adhere to the highest standards and best practices, when it comes to food hygiene. However, we have taken extra precautions to reduce the spread of Coronavirus.”

Customers who usually visit the monthly farmers market in Crewkerne, held outside the Henhayes Centre from 9 am until 1 pm, can pre-order direct from their favourite producers, for collection at the market on Saturday or alternatively place an order for home delivery, before 5 pm today by emailing hannah@somersetfarmersmarkets.co.uk
The Henhayes Centre will not be open on Saturday. A spokesperson for Henhayes Centre said: “The Trustees have taken the sad but inevitable decision to close the Henhayes Centre as of Saturday March 21st, in line with Government guidelines. We will inform everyone, when it is safe to reopen but are anticipating being closed for 12 weeks. Stay safe and see you all soon.”
