FRIENDS OF STATION LAUNCH COMMUNITY WRITING AND MEMORY PROJECT

Friends of Crewkerne Station have launched a community writing and memory project, to celebrate the 160th anniversary of the opening of Crewkerne Railway Station. FOCS had hoped to hold a grand public event on Saturday July 18th but because of restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19, members have quickly come up with a Plan B.

FOCS are inviting railway travellers and the community of Crewkerne and Misterton to contribute memories, poems and photographs of the station. The entries will be included in an exhibition at the station waiting room and in Crewkerne Town Hall. Spot prizes will be awarded for anything of particular interest, skill or “just catches the eye.” The Friends of Crewkerne Station also hope to put up bunting at the station and create a folder of selected entries, to keep as part of the railway station’s history. Entries can be submitted via the groups Facebook page Friends of Crewkerne Station through the group’s website at www.crewkernetown.org/friendsofcrewkernestation or sent by post to Crewkerne Station, Station Road, Crewkerne TA18 8AU.
