LIBRARY’S COLOURFUL WINDOW DISPLAY FOR ELMER DAY

Crewkerne Library has changed its window display, to celebrate Elmer Day. The colourful new exhibit as Elmer would say, “makes the world a brighter place,” so be sure to stop and admire the window when you are out walking or shopping in Falkland Square. Elmer is the nations favourite colourful patchwork elephant from the children’s book series by celebrated author and illustrator David McKee. Elmer Day At Home 2020, takes place tomorrow, Saturday May 23rd.

Children are invited to wear their brightest clothes, get creative and play with colour by making a rainbow, jungle collage or a milk bottle Elmer. Crewkerne Library would love to hear how local children celebrated the day by sharing photos on their Facebook page, Friends of Crewkerne Library.

Crewkerne Library is also currently running a poetry competition for all ages, with the theme Happy Days. Prizes will awarded in the different age categories, under 10’s, 11 – 16 year old and 17 – 116! Entries can be submitted via the Facebook page, by email to crwlib@somerset.gov.uk or left in the box outside the front of the library, on Monday and Wednesday mornings. The poetry competition closes on Saturday July 4th. Entrants are reminded to write their name, age and a contact number or address on the reverse side of their poem.
