LIBRARY EXTENDS CLOSING DATE FOR POETRY COMPETITION

Crewkerne Library has extended the closing date for its Poetry Competition to Saturday July 18th. The competition is open to all age groups, with prizes in the under 10’s, 11-16 and 17 to 100 years age categories. The theme for the poetry competition is Happy Days. A spokesperson for Crewkerne Library said: “We have had some brilliant entries but would love some more.” The library in Falkland Square is displaying a selection of the poems received, in its windows for everyone who passes by to enjoy reading. Entries can be emailed to crwlib@somerset.gov.uk or left in the box outside of the library on Monday or Wednesday mornings.

Somerset Libraries have introduced a new ‘Personal Shopper’ order and collect service, enabling customers to request library books, either by email to libraries@somerset.gov.uk or by completing a borrower request form on the website. Although no date has been announced for the reopening of Crewkerne Library, the phased reopening of Somerset library buildings began in Taunton on Monday, with more libraries in the county, hoping to reopen in the following weeks. Overdue charges that customers might have incurred as a result of library closures due to Covid-19 are being waived, with the loan period extended until the end of August.
