WASHING MACHINE STOLEN FROM CAMPSITE GIVING HOLIDAYS TO OUT OF WORK ACTORS

A washing machine was stolen from the bathroom at Clapton Farm Caravan and Campsite, some time on July 19th. The campsite, situated in a rural setting close to the Somerset and Dorset border, has only recently reopened to visitors, in line with the Government’s Covid-19 health and safety guidelines. A spokesperson for the campsite said: “This is really sad as we are giving holidays to people in the acting profession who are out of work due to the current situation. Also, as members of the Lions club, if someone was so desperate for a washing machine, we could have provided them with one, without a criminal record!”

The scenic setting of the campsite at Clapton, in the midst of farming countryside, is well known for hosting several charity events during the summer months, organised by Crewkerne Lions Club. One of the most popular is the annual Duck Race, which normally takes place in July alongside the Lions Fun Day and a Dog Show, but has been postponed this year, due to current restrictions on social gatherings.
