Sunday services return to the Unitarian Chapel in Hermitage Street on August 2nd at 11 am. A spokesperson for the Unitarians in Crewkerne said: “Sadly no refreshments will be provided in our hall following the service until further notice, so please bring your own bottle of water if needed.” In line with the latest Government advice, social distancing measures will be in place, services will be kept short to a maximum of 30 minutes and include readings and prayers.
There is no mandatory requirement to wear a face covering in places of worship but they should be considered as a mitigation to virus transfer in the overall assessment carried out by church ministers and management trustees. The wearing of face masks is being encouraged in all indoor settings where groups of people come together for a common purpose.
In news from the other churches in the town, services resumed at St Bartholomew’s Church last Sunday. The Methodist Church in South Street remains closed but all eight churches in the circuit have been actively supporting each other and their communities in different ways. Crewkerne and Misterton Baptist Church are exploring how they might reopen and join together for worship and in the meantime are running online podcasts.
Sunday services and other masses for Catholic parishioners in the Parish of the English Martyrs, incorporating the three south Somerset towns of Crewkerne, Ilminster and Chard have resumed at the Catholic Church in Chard with a pre-booking system in place.
