A Volkswagen Golf stolen from outside a residential address in West Street on Sunday August 16th at around 9.45 pm, has been found abandoned and burnt out in a lane near Broadshard. During the theft of the vehicle, the owner who was collecting belongings from his property and had left the key in the ignition, ran into the road in an attempt to stop the offenders. The 23 year old victim was knocked to the ground and suffered minor injuries, which didn’t require hospital treatment. Several items in the car, belonging to the vehicle’s owner were also taken, including a Macbook Pro, black Samsung mobile phone, Beats headphones and various clothing.
The offender who drove the stolen car away, in the direction of Crewkerne town centre, is described as a white male of skinny build with brown straight hair and spotty complexion, aged between 18 – 35 years and wearing a black hoody. His accomplice, in the passenger seat, is described as a white male with brown hair who was wearing black clothing.
Police have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the offenders. They are also appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the theft or later abandoning of the vehicle, a 61 plate red Volkswagen Golf with black alloys and GB sticker on the rear, to contact them on 101, quoting reference 5220185590.
