Rotary Club of Crewkerne new President, Brian Hellin has received the Chain of Office from outgoing President Iain Rowland. The official handover, at the Henhayes Centre, was conducted within the current safety and social distancing guidelines. Chairman of the Rotary Club’s Community Service Committee, David Fradgley said: “Despite the difficulties with isolation, we have managed to continue our meetings via Zoom and are now able to hold non-virtual meetings again with precautions in place. With most of our members being over 70 years of age, there are still some who are in self-isolation and we are being very careful as to how we meet.”
The Rotary Club of Crewkerne recently made a donation in support of the Be A Good Neighbour Scheme, run by Crewkerne Community Church, to thank them for their “very praiseworthy efforts” in providing shopping and prescription collection services, telephone support and daily hot meals to those who needed them during the coronavirus lockdown. The BAGN scheme has now been adapted and modified to support the current needs of around 250 residents living in Crewkerne who still require support and from September 1st will be operating a small food bank.
