NO POINTS CONCEDED BY WINNERS OF AUSTRALIAN PAIRS BOWLS COMPETITION

The overall winners of the Australian Pairs Competition at Severalls Jubilee Bowls Club on Sunday August 23rd, were Alan McLaren and Peter Loaring, who didn’t concede any points on their way to victory. Twenty four members took part in the competition, with each team playing four games of four ends and one game of five ends. At the end of every game, teams moved to a new rink and the lead player and skip in each team changed position. To add to the complicated format, especially for those who had not taken part in the game before, there was the additional requirement for handling mats, Jacks and pushers due to social distancing and equipment handling regulations.

A spokesperson for Severalls Jubilee Bowls Club said: “After a couple of games, the competition was mastered and teams were ready for tea and biscuits at the end of their third game. The event went smoothly and was greatly enjoyed by all with the enhancement of favourable weather.” Competition Secretary, Margaret Robins was thanked for organising the competition. The club’s next event is Finals Day on Sunday September 6th. Severalls Jubilee Bowls Club is offering safe friendly coaching every Monday in September between 10 am and 12 noon.
