A fortnight of £5 special offers in shops and other businesses in the town starts on Saturday October 10th. The Totally Locally Fiver Fest is a “big celebration of Britain’s fantastic small businesses and shops,” who all contribute greatly to the UK’s economy and well being of the nation’s towns. It is being brought to Crewkerne for the first time by Anna Grand of Grand Interiors in the George Shopping Centre, who having heard of the campaign, thought it would be a great opportunity to bring local businesses and the community together.
Anna contacted businesses in Crewkerne to promote the Fiver Fest and is pleased with the variety of businesses which have come on board. In an interview on BBC Radio Somerset’s breakfast show on Saturday, with presenter Simon Parkin, Anna said: “The Fiver fest is an amazing opportunity to encourage more people into your shop and a way of giving back to your community, with deals on offer. I am really pleased how people have responded to my business and have some amazing regular customers. Customers enjoy the more relaxed experience when shopping in smaller shops and I have enjoyed the experience of chatting with the local community since opening my shop in Crewkerne, a year ago.”
Radio presenter Simon Parkin had spoken earlier in the show to Chris Sands, an award winning expert in branding and marketing and founder of Totally Locally and the Fiver Fest, which runs three times a year. When asked by Simon how the take-up of the campaign was faring this year, during the Covid-19 pandemic and with many people still anxious about visiting their High Street, Chris said: “It has been more challenging and the Fiver Fest is going to be different this time but there are more opportunities and also more people are at home during the day.”
A list of the Crewkerne businesses taking part in the Fiver Fest, 10th – 24th October is being compiled by Anna Grand. Early indications show that a wide range of businesses in the town will be offering £5 deals and so far include, gift and food shops, cafes, restaurants, hairdressers, opticians and consultants. Businesses will be displaying a Totally Locally Fiver Fest poster in their windows, for customers/clients to see where the bargains are being offered. Any Crewkerne business who hasn’t yet heard of the event and would like to be included, can email Anna, firstname.lastname@example.org for an information pack.
