Crewkerne Farmers’ Market returns on Saturday, November 21st with seasonal guests and a local producer of organically grown micro-greens joining the regular line-up of stalls. The monthly market which takes place outside of Henhayes Centre from 9 am – 1 pm, has been given the go-ahead to continue operating during lockdown as food is classified as essential.
Lakefield Organics, a recent newcomer to Somerset Farmers’ Markets will make their debut in Crewkerne on Saturday with a range of micro-greens that have been organically grown and freshly harvested from their ‘no-dig’ garden in South Somerset. The environmentally friendly way of raising the pink kale, broccoli, rocket, coriander, white mustard, daikon radish and other micro-greens builds up a healthy soil, which stores carbon in the ground and encourages natural ecology and biodiversity. Seasonal guests joining this months market include Sweet Drinks, Wayford Wines, The Incredible Brewing Company and Crewkerne in Bloom. Regular local producers who will be attending on Saturday are Bower Hinton Farm Produce, North Perrott Fruit Farm, Ali’s Homemade Produce, Porky Blinders, Whites of Wick, Melbury Farm, Buckshaw Milk Sheep, In Clover and the Dorset Dairy Company.
Farmers Market Coordinator Hannah said: “We have a superb range of local food on offer this weekend, but it’s not a market without you. Thank you so much for your continued support, we greatly appreciate your custom – it truly means so much to us all.” Please remember to only visit the market if you are well, to adhere to social distancing and the one-way system in place, use the hand sanitiser and where possible shop on your own.
