Crewkerne District Rotary have announced that their Christmas float with Santa on board will be visiting the town’s streets this year. The club has received the green light for the annual festive event to go ahead, provided the safety rules in place, with regard to Covid-19 prevention, are strictly adhered to. Santa’s band of helpers will be limited to four people for each evening’s visit and the willing volunteers will wear masks and gloves. Sweets will not be given out and the collection buckets, raising funds for local charities, will be attached to long poles. Residents are being asked to wait on their doorstep when they hear Santa arrive in their road and donate generously from a safe distance. Volunteers will not be knocking on doors this year and the club is asking that people do not approach the Christmas sleigh to keep Santa and his elves safe.
Provisional dates for Santa’s evening visits in mid December are Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th, Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd. Confirmation of these dates and any changes that may need to be made will be announced nearer the time. Anyone who would like to make an online donation, can do so through the PayPal button at the bottom of the web page, www.crewkernedistrictrotary.org.uk
Santa is also looking forward to seeing the Christmas Trail windows. The theme for this year’s fun event, organised by Crewkerne District Rotary, is the Twelve Days of Christmas. This is a fun event with no prizes being offered with the emphasis on lighting up people’s homes and hearts in the run up to Christmas Day. Local residents who have a front facing window, home or garden that they will be decorating for the festive season, are invited to sign up, to have their house number and street name included in the Christmas Trail map. To join this fun event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
