TWO VEHICLES DELIBERATELY SET ON FIRE IN LATEST ARSON ATTACK

Two vehicles were deliberately set on fire, in the latest arson attack on private cars in residential areas in South Somerset. A fire engine from Crewkerne Fire Station was immediately mobilised to Langmead Square this morning at 04:47 hrs, following several calls to the emergency service. On arrival the fire crew confirmed that two vehicles were well alight. The fires were extinguished using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets. Both vehicles were severely damaged. Police were informed of the incident and have been carrying out house to house enquiries in the local area.

The latest arson attack is the second incident today of vehicles being intentionally set alight. In an earlier incident at 02:22 hrs this morning, Yeovil fire crews extinguished fires at two vehicles in St Georges Avenue, Yeovil. The first vehicle received 100 per cent damage and the second vehicle 50 per cent damage. The incident was left in the hands of the Police who are carrying out further enquiries. Anyone who has information on the Crewkerne or Yeovil incidents, which may help with enquiries, is asked to call the Police on 101.
