BI-ELECTION CALLED TO FILL TWO VACANCIES ON TOWN COUNCIL

A bi-election has been called to fill the two vacancies on Crewkerne Town Council. Following the resignation of Councillor Ben Hartshorn in September and official notice posted on the town council’s website, September 24th, at least 10 electors for the Parish had given notice in writing to the Returning Officer at South Somerset District Council, within the required time limit of 14 days, to request an election.

In October it was confirmed by SSDC that Councillor Alan Smith was no longer a town councillor and that the two vacancies would be filled with a bi-election next year. The bi-election is expected to be held in May 2021, although the date may be deferred until later in the year, depending on the Covid-19 situation. Any person who is interested in becoming a town councillor in Crewkerne and would like to know more about what the voluntary role involves, please contact Crewkerne Town Council on 01460 74001 or email, towncouncil@crewkerne-tc.gov.uk.
