BLACK ICE CAUSES MILK TANKER TO CRASH INTO TREE

Black ice is causing dangerous driving conditions for motorists on roads in Crewkerne. An Arla milk tanker, travelling down Ashlands Road at around 8 am this morning, skidded on the ice and crashed into a tree on an adjacent bank, causing several branches to fall onto the driver’s cab. The tanker driver was not injured but Police and an ambulance were called to the scene of the incident.

Traffic along Ashlands Road is now moving slowly but at one point a tail back of milk tankers were reported, waiting to ascend the steep slope. Ashlands Road does not get gritted by Somerset County Council as it is classed as a B road, although tankers have to currently travel along this road, while bridge repairs are being carried out in Misterton, to access Pattemores Transport and Dairy Ingredients along the Mosterton Road.
