EARLY SPRING FLOWERS PROVIDE COLOURFUL DISPLAYS

Early spring flowers are providing colourful displays across Crewkerne. The bulbs planted by volunteers from Crewkerne in Bloom on grass verges on the edge of town and in town centre flower beds, show daffodils in full bloom and snowdrops beginning to make an appearance. The community organisation and It’s Your Neighbourhood groups in the town received certificates of Recognition and acknowledgement for Inspiring others in 2020 from RHS & South West in Bloom. A further certificate of commendation for Continuing to Excel during Covid-19 was received by CiB at the end of last year.

The Crewkerne in Bloom committee are continuing to meet monthly on Zoom as they begin preparing for this year’s plantings, hanging baskets and the RHS & South West in Bloom competition, entering the ‘Champion of Champions’ category as previous cup winners of the competition in 2019. A spokesperson for Crewkerne in Bloom said: “We would like to thank our Friends and supporters who spread the word about Crewkerne in Bloom in the press, online and on social media and our generous sponsors and volunteers who keep us going.

“We are keen to recruit more volunteers this year, especially local people who regularly visit Townsend Cemetery, to remember loved ones, and would like to help keep this special and peaceful place looking lovely by tending a flower bed there or sprucing up an area which is dear to them and their family.” For more information on volunteering, please phone 01460 72665 or email hello@crewkerneinbloom.org.
