Listed as item 8 on the Agenda, the committee will consider what action should be taken regarding the reported damage to a headstone. Councillors will hopefully have been updated that more than one memorial at Townsend Cemetery has been damaged. A visit to the cemetery over the Easter weekend by the Chairman and Secretary of the Crewkerne Branch of the Royal British Legion, found that of the 19 Commonwealth War Graves, at least 10 of the Portland stone memorial headstones had been damaged to some extent.
Other items on the Agenda for today’s meeting, include a report from Councillor Best on the results of the survey of the lodge and follow-on actions, consideration of arrangements for the committee’s annual cemetery walkabout and consideration of a request from Crewkerne in Bloom to manage a number of the flower beds in the cemetery grounds.
