Crewkerne Community Kitchen which runs a twice weekly free food distribution point at Bar 5 in the town centre, has announced exciting new plans for the future. A free takeaway meal will be available on Thursday this week, April 22nd and next Thursday 29th, to test one of their new ideas. The hot meals will be available for collection from Cafe No7 between 10 am – 11.30 am on both Thursdays and will be served in takeaway cartons.
Michael Fox of Crewkerne Community Kitchen said: “As we give out the delicious hot food over the next two Thursdays, we will be asking for your thoughts on one of our new ideas to set up a weekly community group, where anyone can come along and cook healthy food on a budget. We are looking at new ways to see how best we can live up to our name as a community kitchen but we need your help to do this. We want you to help us decide what will work best for Crewkerne. Please let us know if you would be interested in joining a community cooking group.” Comments on this can be posted on Crewkerne Community Kitchen Facebook page.
Surplus supermarket food is continuing to be distributed by Crewkerne Community Kitchen’s team of volunteers at Bar 5, by kind permission of the owners, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 am until 11.30 am, or earlier if all the food available on the day has been distributed before that time. Covid safety precautions are in place at both Bar 5 and Cafe No7 at all times, and anyone collecting free food is reminded to wear a facial covering when entering the premises and to keep to the social distancing requirements when either inside or queuing outside on the pavement.
