The President of Severalls Jubilee Bowls Club, Mr Dave Rees, officially opened the Green for this season on Sunday, April 18th. A minutes silence was held in memory of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Players from the club took part in a traditional Presidents versus Captains match, with a maximum of 24 players allowed onto three rinks. Following a great deal of enjoyment and some interesting play, the final score was 66 shots to the Captains and 46 shots to the President’s team. Tea was served outside at 11 ends and the first of this season’s 50/50 Club draws took place.
During the interval, the Captain Ann Larcombe took the opportunity to thank the members of the Green team, for their outstanding work during the winter break. Speaking on behalf of SJB Club, Anne Bright said: “The green and club looked superb and members looked very smart in their whites. It was a beautiful afternoon and players enjoyed this first afternoon of bowling, after what seems to have been a very long winter. All activity took place in accordance with Covid regulations.”
A full season of bowling has been arranged at the club, along with coaching sessions for novice and experienced bowlers, which began on Monday. For more information and how to sign up for coaching sessions, please contact Geoff Kerr by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
