WINNING START TO SEASON FOR BOWLS CLUB

Severalls Jubilee Bowls Club made a good start to the season, by winning their first two friendly matches. In the first match which was away to Yeovil on April 28th, the final score was SJBC 66 and Yeovil 32. Spirits remained high on the day, despite the weather which was damp and miserable. The second match was at home to Lyme Regis on April 29th. This time the weather was described as being “much sunnier and pleasant with much laughter and chatter throughout the afternoon.” The final score was SJBC 60 and Lyme Regis 46.

In line with all Covid restrictions and Bowls England rules, there were only three rinks and four players from each club. Tea and biscuits were served outside and a socially distanced after match drink was also enjoyed outside. Lyme Regis Bowls Club thanked the Captain of SJBC and the committee for hosting the afternoon and making tremendous efforts to get everything in place to enable bowling to take place. Although no photos of the first two friendly matches were taken, our feature photo supplied by SJBC shows club members enjoying the start of this season’s bowling at the green in Crewkerne.
