A fortnight of £5 special offers in 27 of Crewkerne’s independent shops and businesses, starts on Saturday June 12th. The Totally Locally Fiver Fest is a ‘big celebration of Britain’s fantastic independent shops and businesses, who contribute greatly to the UK’s economy.’ The Fiver Fest is being brought back to Crewkerne for the second time by Anna Grand of Grand Interiors in the George Shopping Centre and her husband Nicholas Atkinson.
Posters carrying the Five Pound Message will be displayed in the front windows of the town’s businesses that are taking part, each displaying their £5 special offer and all encouraging customers to ‘Shop Like Your High Street Depends On It!’ The national Fiver Fest campaign, created by the founder of Totally Locally, Chris Sands, runs three times a year.
Crewkerne first joined the Fiver Fest last year when Anna Grand introduced the campaign to members of the Crewkerne Business Group at an online meeting. 22 businesses signed up for the October Fiver Fest and thanks to Anna’s diligence and campaigning, the response for the June Fiver Fest has been even more amazing. Crewkerne businesses taking part are; Arty Crafty, Bar 5, Beauty Zone, Bilbys, Boudicca Hair, Brothers & Sisters, Carousel, Crewkerne Antiques Centre, Crooked Swan, Delilah Petal, Grand Interiors, Hollie’s, James Hardware, Juliets, Lilybelle, My Bestie Pet Shop, Mrs B’s, Pinky Promised Parlour, Post Office/Dailyz Tech, Robertos Curios, Robert Frith Optometrists, Rodfords the Florist, The Burger Shed, The George Hotel, The Veg Shed, ThirtyOne and Twigs & Twine. The Fiver Fest is being supported by Crewkerne Town Council and a couple of banners announcing the event will be put up in the town centre with leaflets available from the LIC at the town hall. The event runs from 12th June – 26th June, allowing plenty of time for everyone locally, to find themselves a £5 bargain.
