Crewkerne District Rotary are planning to hold this year’s Charter Fair over three days, to keep everyone safe and happy. Crewkerne Fair will still be held on the first Friday and Saturday in September, when Edward Danters Funfair will make a welcome return to the town, having had to cancel last year because of the Covid pandemic. The funfair will be in operation from 4.45 pm on Friday the 3rd and from 12 noon on the 4th. On Sunday September 5th, the space that was occupied by the funfair outside of the town hall and along Market Street, will be occupied by a variety of market stalls.
A spokesperson for Crewkerne District Rotary said: “We have taken the decision to change the way that the annual Crewkerne Fair is operated this year, as we do not want to lose the fair within the terms of the Charter and are working within the Covid guidelines. We are working hard on getting as many stalls holders as possible on the Sunday and are working with the Farmers’ Market, as well as those who usually participate with a stall in Falkland Square, so that a variety of market stalls are on offer.
“This will also help with parking over the weekend and allow shoppers easier access to the town on the Friday and Saturday, which will benefit the retail businesses. We will also be encouraging shopkeepers to open on the Sunday, in the hope that there will be more trade within the town, which we are very keen to do.”
Stallholders who have already booked space for this year’s Crewkerne Fair will be given the opportunity to move to the Sunday. If unable to do so, they will be given a refund of the pitch fees already paid. Anyone who is interested in booking a stall for Sunday September 5th, is asked to please contact Sandra Shore for more information, email email@example.com Information on the fair website www.crewkernefair.co.uk is currently being updated.
