FARMERS MARKET TO WELCOME AWARD WINNING CIDER MAKER ON SATURDAY

Crewkerne Farmers’ Market will welcome award-winning cider maker, Nigel Stewart from Bridge Farm Cider, on Saturday July 17th. The market takes place from 9 am – 1 pm outside of the town hall. Farmers Market co-ordinator Hannah said: “This month Bridge Farm Cider will be joining us, in time for this weekend’s perfect cider drinking weather. Based in East Chinnock, Nigel and the team craft proper cider from local apples. He also grows an early variety of potatoes, which he will have alongside his selection of cider, apple juice and cider brandy.”

Nigel and his team at Bridge Farm have been making prize winning cider for more than twenty years. The fruit is harvested from their orchards and pressed using the traditional ‘rack and cloth method’. The pulp remaining after the juice has been extracted is stored and used as winter feed for the sheep who graze in the orchards. Bridge Farm’s cider brandy is classed as having an ‘exceptional nose’ due to its five year maturity in Limousin oak barrels.

Other local producers who will be at Saturday’s farmer market include; Bower Hinton Farm Produce, Ali’s Homemade Produce, North Perrott Fruit Farm, Mike’s Pork, White’s of Wick, Buckshaw Milk Sheep, Dorset Dairy Company and In Clover. Please remember to only visit the market if you feel well, maintain social distancing, wear a face covering where possible, sanitise your hands and shop alone when you are able to do so.
